AYFA – FAQs

Who is the AYFA and how are they organized?  AYFA is the Arvada Youth Football Association.  The AYFA is a non-profit association and is administered by an elected Board of Directors. The elected board is made up of a President, 1st and 2nd Vice President and Treasurer. The appointed members are Secretary, Team Parent Representative, Age Group Coordinators (3), Field Manager, Equipment Manager, and County Representatives (2).  This executive board is elected each year at the December Coaches meeting. Each team has one vote, cast by the team manager or head coach.

Where is the AYFA located?  Our mailing address is: PO Box 1679 Arvada CO 80001-1679.
Our physical address is: 10415 W 64th Place (Campbell Cottages).
Phone 303-424-3460 FAX 720-420-3626

When is the AYFA season?  The AMFA is part of the larger Jefferson County Midget Football Association (JMFA).  The season runs from early August until late November.  Children are divided into teams based on their grade level, 1st grade through 8th grade.

How do I register my child to play?  Registration can be completed online or walk-up.  Online registration starts as early as March 1st and can be completed through the website at www.arvadafootball.com  Walk-up registration takes place at the Campbell Cottages 10415 W 64th Place.  Ther is only one walk-up registration date in June (see important dates below and/or on the website).

How much does it cost? The cost of registration is from $225 to $275. The fee includes a team jersey for players that are new to AYFA.

Are there other requirements?  (1) Each player must receive a physical examination before he/she is eligible to participate in any practice or games.  The physical examination may be obtained from your physician or at the time of registration.  (2) An original birth certificate must be copied by an AYFA Board member along with a copy of current school enrollment with grade placement.  These documents will be kept in the player’s packet.

What equipment does my child need?  In addition to the registration fee, each player is required to play in JMFA approved equipment.  Equipment is available during each registration date.  This equipment includes helmet, mouthpiece, chin strap, shoulder pads and area approved pants (including pads).  Each player will also need cleats which can be purchased at the retailer of choice for each family.

How does my child get placed on a team?  New players enter a draft where they are typically placed based on their local school affiliation.  A player is able to submit one request to try to be placed on (1) a specific team OR (2) with a specific friend OR (3) in a specific Division.  NO requests are guaranteed but every effort is made to match requests.  Players/families are contacted following the annual draft to be introduced to the coach and understand practice logistics, dates, etc.

When are practices and games?  There are typically 3 practices and one game per week.  Games are typically held on Saturday, although in some cases games are scheduled during week due to field availability and other schedule logistics.  Teams are scheduled to play 8 games for the season.

What if my child has never played football before?  For all 4th through 8th grade players who are new to tackle football, AYFA highly encourages each of them to request Division 3.
